The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for northern IL in anticipation of hard travel conditions Monday afternoon and evening. Travel will likely become impossible there, forecasters said.

Snow will end Thursday morning, then the rest of the day will be mostly cloudy and blustery with highs 40-45. It should begin as rain everywhere, with temperatures still in the 40s. Officials are advising against travel in many areas, and part of Interstate 90 in eastern South Dakota has been closed due to whiteout conditions.

The light mix of rain, sleet and snow will spread eastward through southern Wisconsin in the morning, with temperatures in the middle to upper 30s. It also said the snow will be heavy and wet, and "there will be a concern about the potential for power outages across the region". However, more than two feet of snow could fall especially in the Litchfield Hills.

Beyond that, a third nor'easter is expected to develop over the weekend and into next week.

At least five people have been killed in a ferocious storm that hammered the Northeast with powerful winds, relentless rain and historic flooding.

Winds: Winds will gust up to 25-35 miles an hour (instead of 50-60 mph in our last storm). It might be a good idea depending on the timing to cancel the afternoon activities, but we should be able to get most of the school day in on Wednesday. The storm is expected to reach the Long Island and New Jersey shorelines Wednesday evening and night, bringing heavy snow and rain.

Weather models suggest now that the heaviest precipitation in our region across DE, far southeastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey, forecasters said.

"The beach is all over the front yard - we have shingles from everyone else's house but the house we are at actually withstood the storm pretty well", Frank Wilkins of Marshfield, Massachusetts, told CNN affiliate WFXT. Snow then quickly departs around midnight. Some models are predicting up to 10 inches in northern areas of the county. Partly sunny, with a high near 43.
