Russian Federation test-fires hypersonic Kinzhal missile

  • The Russian Aerospace Forces conducts test launch of a Kinzhal hypersonic aviation and missile system

The Kinzhal missile was one of an array of new weapons Putin unveiled in his state-of-the-nation address on March 1, ahead of a presidential election on March 18.

"The launch went according to plan: the hypersonic missile hit its target", the ministry stated.

In the two-hour film called "Putin", the Russian president said he was advised on February 7, 2014, that a plane carrying passengers from Ukraine to Turkey had been hijacked - just as the 2014 Winter Olympics Games were to be opened.

The missile has been deployed in the Southern Military District since December 1, he added.

As part of his annual state of the nation speech on 1 March, he played a video graphic that appeared to show missiles raining down on the U.S. state of Florida.

One of the technologies Putin touted was a robotic torpedo that could hit a USA port city, but Mattis said that makes no difference as Russian Federation already can target United States port cities with missiles.

The President accompanied his statement to an audience of hundreds of senior officials and lawmakers with videos and computer images of new weapons, which were shown on giant screens at a conference hall near the Kremlin. Tests of this nature also help the ground crews and all other military personnel involved to get familiar with the new missiles.

"Each time there's an advance in anyone's weapon systems, Russia's weapon systems, Chinese weapon systems, America is required to make sure that we have defenses that respond to them", he added. He also suggested that there must have existed some manipulation from Russian Jews during the U.S. elections 2016.

'No one has listened to us, ' he said.

"You listen to us now".

When asked why Russian Federation wouldn't interfere in United States elections, Putin insisted the country neither has the desire nor the means to do it. Putin's denial, however, runs counter to assessments by USA intelligence agencies.

He made clear that if Russian Federation was hit by nuclear weapons and faced being wiped out, then the world would not be worth saving.

"I was told: a plane en route from Ukraine to Istanbul was seized, captors demand landing in Sochi", Putin said in the film seen by Reuters.

'Our plans for using it (his nuclear arsenal), I am hoping it will never happen, our theoretical plans of using it is a so-called retaliatory, counter strike. "The hypersonic missile confirmed its technical operational performance and timing data of the Kinzhal missile system".

Minutes later he received another call informing him that it was a false alarm, he says. It will be a global catastrophe for the world.
