  • Unnao Rape Case Sack UP CM Yogi Adityanath Demands Congress

Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said that his candlelight march at India Gate was not "political" but instead out of a concern for the safety of women in the country. What happened to Asifa is a disgrace to humanity.

Over 50 state and district level leaders from JD (S) and BJP belonging to Uchila area joined Congress party.

Intensifying its attack on PM Modi and Yogi governments, the Congress party made a decision to observe black day on April 17 to protest rising crimes against women in the country.

We want the govt to act against violence & crimes against women.

Meanwhile, reports claim that Rahul Gandhi will lead a midnight vigil at #India Gate for Asifa. DMK party men hoisted black flags atop their houses to condemn Prime Minister Narendra Modi visiting Tamil Nadu on Thursday.

In a tweet, Rahul Gandhi described the rape and killing of an 8-year-old girl in Kathua as "unimaginable brutality" that cannot go unpunished and wondered how anybody can seek to protect the culprits.

Targeting the BJP over the incidents, Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said that Modi government does not deserve to be in power.

Congress workers and leaders gathered outside the AICC headquarters at Akbar Road and began walking towards India Gate, barely a kilometre away.

Rajya Sabha MP and state President, Kshetrimayum Bhavananda, Prahlad Singh Patel, MP, Prabhari, State Office Bearers, Ministers, MLAs, Senior Leaders and other leaders took part in the protest.

However, some common people, who had nothing to do with the party, also attended the protest.

"Those who are here to push around people must go home".

Jammu has been on tenterhooks since the brutal rape and murder. The BJP is not only involved directly, it is also protesting in favour of the culprits and stopping law enforcement agencies from doing their job. The city's bar association has opposed the action against the accused and alleged that minority Dogra community was being targeted.
