  • Rumors of Fortnite's shutdown have proven to be nothing more than just an Internet hoax

The average daily player spending in the game topped $1 million worldwide on Apple's store and Fortnite has been second only to Netflix in terms of the amount US iPhone users have spent in it so far this month.

The report, which comes from GamesBeat, mentions that EA DICE, a subsidiary of EA, is testing a battle royale mode for its upcoming Battlefield game. Although many gamers will miss the story mode, Uproxx reports that the campaign mode will most likely be replaced with a battle royale mode.

"We've gotten a lot of feedback around the Guided Missile, in particular concerns over fairness and strength of the weapon", Epic wrote.

With both PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and Fortnite having seen industry-shifting success in the past year, it was only a matter of time before loads of major shooters took on the genre for themselves.

For anyone sleeping under a rock (or maybe just not paying attention to recent gaming trends), the battle royale mode became a popular genre after the early access release of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds a year ago, followed by team-based, horde-mode shooter Fortnite added its own 100-player mode.

Fortnite is possibly the most popular video game on the planet right now. This is said to be a prototype, so there is a possibility that the game developer decides to not bring it to Battlefield. The game has always been a shooter with massive maps, player counts, and vehicles.

Earlier this week we heard that Activision's Call of Duty Black Ops 4 may have a Battle Royale mode, now it's the turn of EA.

Players from across the globe have shown their support for the game since release, including high-profile athletes, celebrities, and other notable individuals getting in on the action.

With an already solid base to build from, Epic Games was able to transform Fortnite from a zombie survival game into one of the top battle royale titles on the market. "Let us know how you would like to see private matches used".
