The nation's dream satellite, Bangabandhu-1, is now on its way to orbit after its ideal and successful launching last night, making Bangladesh's debut in the global space society.

May 12 is a red-letter day for Bangladesh when the country moved to a new era by launching its first "Bangabandhu-1" satellite.

The vehicle, aiming to bring astronauts to the International Space Station in the future, came with many design changes to improve its reusability and reliability.

Space.com notes that the two-stage rocket separated about 2.5 minutes into the flight.

The Block-5 Falcon-9 is the most advanced of SpaceX's rockets. The helium tanks were ruptured in a pre-launch test on September 1, 2016, causing an explosion.

After launch, the first-stage booster of the rocket detached and guided itself back to Earth, where it landed safely on a platform, or drone ship, in the ocean so it can be flown once again on a future mission.

The new Falcon 9 rocket took off on its maiden voyage to carry into orbit Bangladesh's first communications satellite, Bangabandhu-1.

The Falcon 9, which is created to eventually send NASA astronauts into space, was due to launch the day before, but an auto-abort was triggered one minute before take off.

The landing, which occurred less than 9 minutes after liftoff, elicited raucous cheers from SpaceX employees at the company's headquarters in Hawthorne, California. This is the most powerful version of the private space company's Falcon 9 rocket, one featuring upgrades that enhance its reusability. The Falcon 9 Block 5 rocket launch is now scheduled for May 11, with a launch window that starts at 4:14 p.m. ET and ends at 6:21 p.m. ET.

The SpaceX also said that the rocket and satellite "are in good health" and its teams are working on resuming the launching on Saturday. Musk said his engineering talent will now focus their resources on getting the BFR up and running, and eventually ferrying humans into space. Bangabandhu Satellite-1 will provide direct-to-home services, video distribution and very small aperture terminal (VSAT) communications across Bangladesh.
