As a result of air strikes of Israel on Iranian facilities in Syria killed at least 27 people.

In strikes near the capital on Wednesday, the Observatory said at least 15 were killed, including eight Iranians.

"The new report is due to the death of wounded or missing persons whose deaths have been confirmed", Abdel Rahman said.

That brings to 42, including 19 Iranians, the total killed during the two days of strikes.

Minister of military affairs, Avigdor Lieberman, claimed that Israel had "hit nearly all of the Iranian infrastructure in Syria" in response to a barrage of 20 rockets fired at Israeli military outposts in the occupied Golan Heights.

"They need to remember the saying that if it rains on us, it'll storm on them".

"Iran strongly condemns. [Israel's] attacks on Syria".

"We hit almost all the Iranian infrastructure in Syria", said Israeli Defence Minister Avigdor Lieberman, in a rare Israeli acknowledgment of strikes in Syria. Four of the missiles were knocked down by the Iron Dome air defense system and the rest fell short of Israeli territory, according to the military. "You can come, you can return to the bed and breakfasts, to tour, to hike", he said.

In retaliation for Iran's rocket attack, about 50 Iranian targets in Syria were attacked by IDF forces on Thursday.

The White House backed Israel's claims, accusing Iran of "reckless actions" that posed a "severe threat" to stability in the Middle East.

"For the first time, Iran has the chance to show the world they are not the rogue nation they are always presented as, that they negotiated in good faith and keep to their commitments", said Karim Emile Bitar, of the Institute for worldwide and Strategic Affairs in Paris.

Mr Trump spoke with British Prime Minister Theresa May on Friday, and "both leaders condemned the Iranian regime's provocative rocket attacks from Syria", the White House said. "I hope we've finished this episode and everyone understood".

The Jewish state has long warned it will not accept Iran entrenching itself militarily in neighbouring Syria, where the Islamic Republic backs Assad's regime in the country's seven-year civil war.

A leading Iranian cleric said Friday that Tel Aviv and Haifa will be destroyed if Israel behaves "foolishly", while also vowing Iran will ramp up missile development despite Western criticism.

That is despite Israel's claims it struck dozens of Iranian targets inside Syria early on Thursday as part of "Operation House of Cards".

Iran's hardliners are already mobilising against any concessions to Europe, with hundreds protesting in Tehran after Friday prayers, saying it was time to abandon the deal.
