Todd ended up suffering a serious bite on his snout.

The pup was taken to Animal Hospital at Anthem for treatment, AZFamily.com reported.

While on an early morning hike, Godwin said in a Facebook post that she nearly stepped on a rattlesnake. She even posted a live video on Facebook sharing about her morning walk wishing everyone a happy day.

His owner Paula Godwin said that as they were walking, Todd jumped in front of her leg to prevent the snake from biting her. She later posted photos of Todd's swollen face saying, "this is what a hero looks like".

But it was her golden retriever "Todd" to the rescue!

A puppy is on the mend after jumping in front of a rattlesnake to protect his owner in Arizona Friday. Todd showed great bravery at less than a year old.

Todd is expected to be OK though.

The group has set a goal of $500, and raised $125 in its first two hours after being launched.

"Todd wants to help more puppies that may need help".

"People from the Philippines have been contacting us with well wishes", she said.

Todd is now recovering from the injury.

She added that if it was her choice, "I would have much rather been bitten by the snake". He saved his human from a rattlesnake yesterday.
