LONDON - Europe's package of economic measures to offset the USA pullout from the nuclear deal is "disappointing", Iranian President Hassan Rouhani told German Chancellor Angela Merkel by telephone on Thursday.

Rouhani and some senior military commanders have threatened in recent days to disrupt oil shipments from the Gulf countries if Washington tries to strangle Tehran's exports.

"After the withdrawal of the United States, which we can't understand, we face a hard situation", he said.

From the moment President Donald Trump pulled the US out of the Iran Nuclear deal, a.k.a.

Since Trump's shock move in May, Washington has warned other countries to end trade and investment in the Islamic republic and stop buying its oil from early November or face punitive measures.

If Iran can not sell its oil due to USA pressure, then no other regional country will be allowed to do so either, Jafari was quoted as saying by Tasnim news agency.

Furthermore, the IRNA adds that the Iranian President had further expressed his "hope". "If Iran's oil exports are to be prevented, we will not give permission for oil to be exported to the world through the Strait of Hormuz".

"The U.S. and its partners provide, and promote security and stability in the region", Central Command spokesman Navy Captain Bill Urban said in an email to Reuters.

"Any hostile attempt by the United States will be followed by an exorbitant cost for them", said deputy commander of the Sarollah Revolutionary Guards base in Teheran Esmail Kowsari, according to the Young Journalists Club, affiliated with Iran's national broadcaster.

The Guards' naval arm lacks a strong conventional fleet.

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas admitted that the situation is hard, and the European Union wants to make it clear to Iran that it has economic benefits from that deal, and it's looking for measures to benefit Tehran under the deal.

The Vienna meeting will discuss the European package of economic measures that aims to persuade Iran to stick with the deal, a European diplomat said without specifying the measures on offer.

"The package proposed by Europe for continuation of cooperation in the nuclear deal does not meet all our demands", Rouhani was quoted as saying by his official website.

What Iran expects from other signatories to the accord is to consider Iranians' nuclear, political and economic rights addressed in the deal, Zarif told reporters ahead of the meeting.

"We have been clear with countries and companies around the world that we are bringing severe economic pressure on Iran until the regime changes its destabilizing policies", State Department official Brian Hook said at a press conference on Monday.
