Donald Trump is steering clear of the mass protests in central London that will mark his first visit to Britain as president next week, instead holding meetings with dignitaries outside the capital at grand country residences and a castle.

It is expected meeting the Queen will be the last of Trump's official duties before he jets off to Scotland, where he owns two golf properties.

LONDON-A pub in west London will temporarily rename itself the "Trump Arms" to honour President Donald Trump's visit to the UK.

"The presidential visit is an important moment to recognise our close and special relationship and to have good and frank discussions on the key issues".

"The President is not avoiding anything", he told journalists.

Among the forms of protest: A balloon depicting Mr. Trump as a baby wearing a diaper is expected to be flown over London while he is visiting.

While Johnson emphasized the U.S.' longstanding ties with the U.K., Trump has previously taken steps that have outraged many across the pond, including retweeting videos from an anti-Islamic fringe political group and clashing with London's first Muslim mayor, Sadiq Khan, on Twitter after a terrorist attack last June.

"The prime minister has always said she wants to strike an ambitious trade deal with the US".

The visit comes at a testing time: May is battling to make a success of Brexit and keep her minority government together, while Trump is challenging Western assumptions about free trade and turning away from global institutions.

The president will also attend a black-tie dinner with business leaders and diplomats at Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, which is the birthplace of Winston Churchill.

He will be greeted by the bands of the Scots, Irish and Welsh Guards playing Amazing Grace, among other tunes, which is based on a poem by British slaver John Newton, who repented and campaigned against the trade.

Throughout the formal dinner, guests will be entertained by the Countess of Wessex's orchestra, which will perform classic British and American hits. "I think the majority of the British people understand the importance of our alliance". And on his departure, Mr Trump will be "piped out" by the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

The following morning, they will visit a defence site and then travel back to Prime Minister May's country residence, Chequers, in Buckinghamshire for a working lunch.

The president then plans to head to Windsor Castle to meet Queen Elizabeth II before moving to Scotland for the weekend.

This was announced by the US Ambassador in London, woody Johnson, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to 24news.

"This is a real grassroots celebration for the US president", said Sullivan, who runs the conservative leaning think tank Parliament Street.

A petition calling for the invite to be rescinded garnered more than 1.8 million signatures, forcing parliament into a debate and the government to issue a statement stating that "the President of the United States should be extended the full courtesy of a State Visit".
