In his speech during the no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha on Friday, Rahul Gandhi opened fire against Narendra Modi and his government for failing to stay true to the promises made by the NDA during the 2014 election campaign. Soon after the announcement, all BJD MPs walked out of the lower House while the discussion on the Motion picked up momentum.

"A phone call would get loans for their cronies and the nation suffered", Modi said, replying to the debate on the no confidence motion in the Lok Sabha. The prime minister, who appeared to be flummoxed by Rahul's gesture, called him back, shook his hands again and patted him while sporting a smile.

Seema Mustafa, a political analyst, said Rahul Gandhi's hugging of Modi was a reminder to him that he was in the habit of embracing "reluctant and willing leaders across the world and today he was caught off guard" by Gandhi. He said that before me.

But, I want to say this from the bottom of my heart that I am very grateful to the Prime Minister, the BJP and the RSS. PM Modi further added.

Ties between the opposition and the BJP have been acrimonious and at their worst in recent years with the BJP often taunting Mr Gandhi, whose father, grandmother and great-grandfather were prime ministers, about his allegedly poor leadership abilities.

Picking up the Rafale deal, Rahul used the opportunity to attack PM Modi, alleging that since some "corporate" had a vested interest in the ruling government, the PM went to France and "magically" the cost per aircraft increased.

Prime Minister Modi also countered Gandhi's attack on the Doklam issue and said, "Sometimes we should not touch upon issues that are beyond us".

"I pray to God to give you the strength to bring a no- confidence motion in 2024 also". It said Modi addressed each of Gandhi's claims in a "tit-for-tat" manner.

The Dainik Jagran said the Bharatiya Janata Party won the majority vote as expected.

He rounded it off saying he was both a chowkidar and a bhagidar (sentinel as well as the partner of the poor) and never a "saudagar or thekedar" (those who strike deals and contracts). On Rafale, he admonished Rahul in an nearly paternalistic tone for bringing disrepute to a defence procurement entered into by two nations.

Modi said that the opposition knew that it didn't have enough support to defeat his government. He not only promised the people of Andhra Pradesh that the Centre would help them with their development goals, but also rejected the charges about unemployment and corruption.

He said the government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee had created Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. These states are prospering ... With 451 members present in the House, the half-way mark was 226, which the government reached comfortably.
