  • Liverpool news Jordan Henderson

Since linking up with his new Liverpool teammates in France, there has been speculation over what number Alisson would wear this season.

As Manchester City and Chelsea face off in the Community Shield tomorrow, Liverpool's last minute preparations for the season see them face Napoli in Dublin.

Nearly all of Liverpool's senior players are available for selection after the 2018 FIFA World Cup, with skipper Jordan Henderson the only one yet to return after his exertions for England in Russian Federation.

Summer signing Fabinho came off the bench to replace the former England global.

Keita cost the Reds around £53 million [Liverpool Echo] but if his pre-season performances are anything to go by then it's a sound investment by manager Jurgen Klopp. From one point of view, we needed another game because it was clear a lot of players would come back later.

Goals from James Milner and Georginio Wijnaldum put the Reds - for whom Alisson Becker debuted in goal - two goals to the good inside the opening 10 minutes at the Aviva Stadium.

Liverpool conclude their preseason on Tuesday when they host Torino at Anfield ahead of their Premier League opener with West Ham United on Aug 12.

The interplay between the front-three was also impressive.

Xherdan Shaqiri was a half-time substitute for Roberto Firmino and suggested he might offer Liverpool some depth beyond their Brazilian number 9, as Daniel Sturridge is a different type of player.

Ragnar Klavan, Adam Lallana, Joel Matip, Marko Grujic and Danny Ings all missed out.

Mo Salah (Liverpool): Making his way back from the World Cup and injury, he looks back to full fitness.

Whereas Firmino is fain to drop deep and leave space for Mane and Salah, Sturridge spends far longer facing the opposition goal.

"The club will announce Alisson's permanent number in due course, and that of fellow summer signing Fabinho, who has provisionally been wearing no.3 in pre-season".
