Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani says ‘truth isn’t truth’

  • Rudy Giuliani on Russia probe:

Preet Bharara, a Democrat who was sacked as federal prosecutor by the Trump administration, suggested "truth isn't truth" would not sound convincing in a trial.

The former New York City mayor made the remark during a back-and-forth with NBC anchor Chuck Todd as Giuliani weighed the risk of allowing the president to be interviewed by Mueller's prosecutors.

"Truth is truth", Todd said in response.

"The double-speak that is being used by folks on Trump's legal team - and Donald TrumpDonald John TrumpArizona GOP Senate candidate defends bus tour with far-right activist Alyssa Milano protests Kavanaugh in "Handmaid's Tale" costume Bomb in deadly Yemen school bus attack was manufactured by USA firm: report MORE himself - is really scary stuff", the former GOP communications director added.

On Sunday, President Donald Trump's personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani appeared on MSNBC with Chuck Todd and said that "truth isn't truth".

Giuliani attempted some cleanup just now.

"What am I supposed to say?" Rob Goldstone, who arranged the meeting, emailed Don Jr beforehand to pitch him on it and explicitly said that the dirt on Clinton was "part of Russian Federation and its government's support for Mr. Trump".

Dean was White House counsel for President Richard Nixon during Watergate.

"Look, I'm not going to be rushed into having [Trump] testify so that he gets trapped into perjury", Giuliani told Todd.

CNN says that Trump's legal team is opposed to the idea of Trump testifying before the Mueller probe because they believe "the special counsel's investigators could take what Trump says, if it differs from what others have laid out, as a lie".

Russian Federation also denies claims it interfered in the polls two years ago, which saw Donald Trump defeat Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.

But Giuliani's philosophy on the nature of truth may be more than a gaffe.

"The president of the United States wasn't at that meeting, he didn't know about that meeting, he found out about it after". And Todd, wise to the ways of modern media, correctly predicted it would become a "bad meme".
