Why is Season 8 Delayed?

So when HBO wanted to show off what's coming next year it obviously included glimpses of Arya Stark Jon (insert family name here) and the undead king coming to kill them all. However, it sounds like the Game of Thrones season 8 premiere will likely not debut until the summer of next year. Although the eighth season of Game of Thrones will only be 6 episodes long, HBO promises they will be the most intense episodes of the franchise.

Game Of Thrones is expected to return to screens in early 2019 - although it's still not clear precisely when.

It's the briefest look at the new season. HBO revealed a surprise video Sunday night touting the premium cable network's 2019 lineup.

An interview with visual effects supervisor Joe Bauer on the Huffington Post talks about the show in reference to the Emmy Awards and its eligibility.

Although we only get a brief glimpse at Game of Thrones' final season, it is hard to believe that after almost a decade on the air, we are finally seeing how the epic series concludes. But the prequel is starting to shoot in February, at least the pilot. "So we'll still have quite a lot to do on Season 8 when they're beginning".

In order for a show to be eligible for the Emmy nominations next year, it must air a majority of its episodes by May 31.

He added: "So much of it comes down to timing and all that stuff". But the footage of an unhappy Sansa hugging a morose Jon is sure to keep fans speculating. "The situation changes every week". Once the trailer hits the 1:10, a quick peek at Game of Thrones is shown.

In a three-second blink-and-you-miss-it moment, we get a glimpse of Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) and Sansa Stark's (Sophie Turner) reunion at Winterfell.
