"I am convinced there is no more effective method of preventing a war than a decisive stance illustrating that we are ready at any moment to repel possible attack".
Mr Trump, who seemed enticed by the offer, said he deemed the security of Poland "almost as important" to him as it is to the Polish president.
Speaking at a joint press conference ending Mr Duda's visit to Washington DC, Mr Duda said: "I invite you to post more American military troops in Poland".
"It is the reality that we live in today", Duda said.
Without giving a timetable, Trump said the USA and Poland planned to launch a "high-level diplomatic exchange" on energy security.
Trump and Duda are also discussing trade and energy cooperation.
"I think its a very aggressive situation. I think Russian Federation has acted aggressively", he said.
