US President Donald Trump on Tuesday urged heavy pressure both on Iran and Washington's trading partners as he offered a robust defence of the US right to go it alone.

After his not-so-humblebrag, Trump's speech pivoted to world issues.

Trump and Moon later made the announcement at hte United Nations and held a signing ceremony.

He had said it is an "outrage" that some nations would not only trade with a regime like North Korea, but would arm, supply and financially support a country that imperils the world with nuclear conflict. As laughter spread across the chamber, Trump said, "So true".

Rouhani earlier said that as a precondition for any dialogue, Trump would need to fix the damage done by exiting the nuclear deal.

In response, Trump reiterated the United States commitment to a "campaign of economic pressure" to deny Iran funds for its "regional behavior", and that more sanctions will follow after the resumption of oil sanctions on November 5.

"In less than two years, my administration has accomplished more than nearly any administration in the history of our country", Trump said, eliciting laughter from some of those in attendance.

Trump was forced to pause and, to his credit, recovered by saying: "Didn't expect that reaction but that's OK".

The US President said that Tehran's leaders "do not respect their neighbours or borders or the sovereign rights of nations".

In his first speech before the United Nations, President Donald Trump stood before the hall's iconic green marble wall and deployed for the first time in person his infamous moniker aimed at North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un.

The top adviser to Khamenei, Ali Akbar Velayati, rejected the US offer, saying Trump's and Pompeo's dream would never come to reality.

Trump administration pulled out of the historic 2015 nuclear deal, which was negotiated for nearly 2 years and was spearheaded under the reign of the former US President Barak Obama.

The president was highlighting USA gains under his watch as he opened his address to the UN General Assembly.

Trump's comments followed a Tweet in which he said that wouldn't meet Iran's President Hassan Rouhani on the sidelines of the General Assembly although he added he was sure Rouhani "is an absolutely lovely man!"
