This week, as allegations into Kavanaugh's past are being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the New York Times reports that a police report said the two were in a bar fight together during their junior year of college in 1985.

Kavanaugh and four other men were questioned by New Haven, Connecticut police for their participation in the scrap.

Kavanaugh was accused of throwing ice on a bar patron during the incident in September 1985, according to a police report obtained by the New York Times.

Chris Dudley, a former Yale basketball player and a friend of Kavanaugh's, allegedly threw a glass at Cozzolino, according to a witness cited in the police report. The report says Dudley denied throwing a glass at Cozzolino, while Kavanaugh did not want to say whether or not he threw the ice.

Ludington says that a brawl then broke out, with Kavanaugh later questioned by police about his involvement (he was neither arrested nor charged).

When the man asked them to stop looking at him, Ludington said Kavanaugh launched a beer at the man. Ludington told CNN that he earlier mixed up a beer for a drink with ice, but said that the man "took a swing at Brett" and they fought.

Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, who goes by Christine Blasey professionally, claims Kavanaugh forced himself on her at a high school party more than 35 years ago.

Ludington is a professor at North Carolina State University, The New York Times reports, and he has appeared to have made small political contributions to Democratic candidates.

In fact, the one person in a prime position to know the most about Kavanaugh's drinking and its impact says it never happened.

In his testimony to the judiciary committee Thursday, Kavanaugh denied ever blacking out from drinking.

When The Post sought comment from Kavanaugh's attorneys last week regarding allegations of excessive drinking at Yale, the newspaper received a call back from Dudley. When Brett got drunk, he was often belligerent and aggressive.

On Monday, the US President said Mr Kavanaugh was a good man who had been treated unfairly, and said he believed Mr Kavanaugh did not lie about his drinking.

Ludington said the aggressive act by Kavanaugh touched off a brief melee.

Ludington said that he felt Kavanaugh at the hearing had "mischaracterized the extent" of his drinking.

Mr Trump said he wanted the FBI to conduct a comprehensive investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against his Supreme Court nominee, but said he did not want to see a "witch hunt". "I don't know what Brett was doing exactly, but I was pulling Chris back and someone else was pulling the other guy back", Ludington said. Swetnick claims she saw Kavanaugh drink excessively at these parties, "press girls against him without their consent" and attempt to remove or shift their clothing.
