The first project of the new lineup is expected to be released by the end of this year, with an episode of Netflix's popular sci-fi show "Black Mirror". The streaming platform has experimented with the interactive format with its children's programming, and is looking to expand upon that idea.

Of all the shows to go the choose-your-own-adventure route first, it makes sense for Black Mirror to give it a shot, giving viewers a chance to decide how a story pans out using Netflix's technology.

We've also ranked our top 10 Black Mirror episodes of all time, the show, by Charlie Brooker and once a Channel 4 exclusive in the United Kingdom, that is now available on Netflix. It's certainly attention-grabbing, and I could see the concept working on an extremely meta-level with Black Mirror. Last season, the show's fourth, was typically up and down in quality, but when the Charlie Brooker-created anthology series is good, like "USS Callister" and "Hang the DJ", it's very good. Season four, which premiered previous year, starred Rosemarie Dewitt, Jesse Plemmons, Cristin Milioti, Jimmi Simpson, Andrea Riseborough, Letitia Wright, and Maxine Peake. It released an episode of Puss in Book: Trapped in an epic tale for with interaction points for its Shrek spin-off film a year ago, followed by a few other projects for kids.

One of these projects, the upcoming animated Minecraft show, is being developed in conjunction with Telltale Games, the company that recently begun a majority studio closure that will complete following the end of their obligation to Netflix on this show.

Netflix has been thinking a lot about the future of media and how engaged its viewers will or won't be with its content.

One of the season 5 episodes will allow viewers to choose-their-own-adventure.

Forward-looking: If successful, interactive storytelling could take the industry in a whole new direction. Now, we know that Black Mirror is in for the same treatment, thanks to a Bloomberg report.
