  • Turks tell U.S. officials they have audio and video recordings that support conclusion Khashoggi was killed

US President Donald Trump said Sunday that he is against cancelling the $110 billion mega arms deal with Saudi Arabia as this will hurt America's economy and jobs.

The source said that the Kingdom also affirms that if it receives any action, it will respond with greater action.

Turkish officials fear Saudi agents killed and dismembered Khashoggi after he entered the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul on October 2, claiming audio and video recordings of the murder exist although they have not been released.

Khashoggi, a tough critic of the Saudi government, vanished on October 2 after visiting its consulate in the Turkish city of Istanbul. Saudi officials call the allegations "baseless", but have offered no evidence Khashoggi ever left the consulate. CNN recently reported that Turkish officials say they have audio and video that proves Khashoggi was murdered.

"There are other things we can do that are very, very powerful, very strong and well do them", he added, without saying what those measures might be.

"They are ordering military equipment", Trump said.

On Thursday, Trump had said US relations with Saudi Arabia were "excellent" and he was reluctant to scuttle highly lucrative USA weapons deals with Riyadh.

He also said Saudi Arabia has been "a very good partner" to the United States, including in "combating terrorist financing".

Shortly after trading kicked off on Sunday, Saudi stocks plunged by at least seven percent, in what became the biggest drop since 2014 which comes amid an ever-increasing pressure on Riyadh over the situation around missing Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi. "The answer is for now I am" still going, Mnuchin said. However, a column published in English a short time later by the general manager of the Saudi-owned Al-Arabiya satellite news network suggested Saudi Arabia could use its oil production as a weapon.

Reports suggest an assault and struggle took place in the consulate after Mr Khashoggi entered the building to get paperwork for a marriage.

Turkish authorities believe a 15-man hit squad flew into Istanbul, murdered Khashoggi and flew his dismembered body out of the country.

Cengiz also didn't just call for an investigation into Khashoggi's disappearance, she urged for the responsible party, "irrespective of their political positions", to be punished.

"The recent disappearance of Saudi journalist and Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi suggests that he could be a victim of a gross violation of internationally recognized human rights", almost two dozen senators explained in their letter to the president.

Mr Tugendhat added that it was important to establish the facts, but if the Riyadh government had murdered Khashoggi there could be a downgrading of diplomatic relations and a boycott by United Kingdom ministers.
