A fight broke out between Chris Paul and Rajon Rondo at the Los Angeles Lakers vs Houston Rockets game on October 20.

The brawl that took place late in the fourth quarter resulted in the suspension of Lakers forward Brandon Ingram, Lakers guard Rajon Rondo, and, naturally, Paul, who was being escorted off the court when he crossed paths with Kiedis. The four-time NBA Most Valuable Player James signed with the Lakers three months ago after leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to four straight NBA final appearances, including their first championship in 2016. "If you wanted to suspend him one [game] I get it, just to make a statement". Ingram, who had been calmed down, raced over to the fight and threw a punch at Paul. Paul received two games for punching Rondo.

Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis was also kicked out of the arena for yelling profanities at Chris Paul as he made his way back to the locker room following the scuffle with Rondo.

The NBA was evaluating a video shot courtside that appeared to capture Rondo spitting into the face of Paul at Staples Center, league sources told ESPN earlier Sunday. He then re-inserted himself into the situation, throwing a wild punch that could have done serious damage had it connected.

Paul and Rondo were the main combatants trading blows after Paul stuck his finger in Rondo's face and pushed him hard.

The extraordinary scenes overshadowed LeBron James's home debut with the Lakers, which ended in a 124-115 Rockets victory.

LeBron James of the Lakers and Chris Paul of the Rockets get on with the basketball side of things in the heated clash on Sunday (NZT). Players from both teams broke up the fight quickly by separating the players involved, though.

One major difficulty in losing Ingram and Rondo is the playmaking factor. He called Rondo's spitting "pretty disgusting".

"Rajon has his own view of what happened", VanDeWeghe said. "We're going to need guys that haven't been playing to step in, be ready and confident and I believe they will be".
