The NBA suspended Houston Rockets point guard Chris Paul along with the Los Angeles Lakers' Rajon Rondo and Brandon Ingram on Sunday.

A heated altercation quickly turned into what resembled a brief street fight during Saturday's Rockets-Lakers game at Staples Center. Paul received two games for punching Rondo. He began serving his suspension Sunday night and wasn't at the arena when the Rockets lost to the Clippers 115-112.

Lonzo Ball, last season's starter at point guard, could replace Rondo in the starting lineup when the Lakers host the Spurs Monday night. The two could be seen having what seemed to be an emotional discussion, when Paul took offense to Rondo for allegedly spitting on him.

A wild multiplayer fight that included the normally mild-mannered Chris Paul and Brandon Ingram stole part of the spotlight shining on LeBron's official landing on the West Coast.

"Everyone knows who I am, my team", Rondo added.

"Rondo has been suspended for instigating a physical altercation with, and spitting and throwing multiple punches at, Paul", the statement from executive vide president of basketball operations Kiki VanDeWeghe said.

"(We are) sending a clear message that this is not acceptable behaviour and you can not do this.

Walton will also need to alter his bench rotation as Beasley, rookie Svi Mykhailiuk, or possibly two-way player Alex Caruso could see expanded roles. The two exchanged punches for a moment, before several Lakers and Rockets came in to break it up.

This one incident alone is definitely not something to cause us to run to the NBA Trade Machine and try to work out a deal for Ingram. Paul could contend he only responded when provoked by Rondo, which is a fair argument. Ingram disagreed with the call and pushed Harden in the back, drawing a technical. "I think we take this opportunity tonight to go over the things we could have done better and be frustrated", he said.
