Kohli, who completed the fastest 10,000 ODI runs eclipsing Sachin Tendulkar by an astounding 54 innings, feels that "nothing should be taken for granted" as it's a privilege that only few are bestowed with while a whole lot of them can only aspire. He bettered his own record of 1000 runs in a year in 15 matches set in 2012 and Hashim amla's record in same number of matches in 2010. The only left-handed among the five Indian batsmen to have scored 10,000 ODI runs, Ganguly said he did not have words to describe how he felt after seeing Kohli's superhuman efforts.

Further emphasising his point about not playing for records, Kohli said that all his efforts every game goes into what the team needs. The 29-year old is already the No.11 batsman in the world in Tests and ODIs apart from being a part of a World Cup-winning team. "You still have to work hard for every run that you score at the worldwide level", Kohli told BCCI.TV on Thursday. India lost their two openers rather quickly, but in walked Kohli and nearly as if everything was bound to fall into place, he took charge of proceedings.

Despite such glowing numbers, Kohli insisted that records meant nothing to him in front of representing India.

Kohli cashed in to record his third-highest score in ODIs, after his 183 against Pakistan in Dhaka in 2012 and unbeaten 160 against South Africa in Cape Town earlier this year. It was the Indian skipper's second consecutive century against the Windies after his 140 run knock in the first ODI at Guwahati. He is now the world's No.1 batsman in both the Test and one-day formats. The two other Indians in the list are Rahul Dravid (309 matches and 287 innings) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (320 matches and 273 innings).

India are now leading the series, 1-nil.
