Florida governor and senate races are too close to call

  • Democratic candidate for Florida Governor Andrew Gillum

Gillum pushed back in part by challenging DeSantis to release records detailing the more than $145,000 in taxpayer funds the Republican reportedly spent on travel during his time in the House. The document dump has put Gillum-who has led in poll after poll-on the defensive and threatens his momentum with less than two weeks until Election Day. But Gillum, who maintains his innocence, recently posted to Facebook: "These messages only confirm what we have said all along".

Mark Herron, the attorney registered as an agent for Forward Florida when the committee initially opened, did not immediately respond for comment. "More will come out".

"It is the first piece of evidence linking the ongoing Federal Bureau of Investigation probe to Gillum's campaign for governor", the Tallahassee Democrat reported.

He released receipts and bank statements last month that proved he paid at least some of his own way.

In his speech, Gillum hit upon a number of campaign issues, including his position on what he called "common sense gun reform", including background checks and a ban on assault-style weapons.

DeSantis reiterated his daily attack on Gillum as a corrupt liar, specifically on the biggest political news in Florida this week, a 130-page list of text messages and photos from 2016, all subpoenaed by the state's Commission on Ethics, which is investigating the mayor.

During a mid-week debate, Gillum admitted taking the ticket, but said he received it from his brother and he thought his brother swapped them for concert tickets to see Jay-Z and Beyonce. The texts also showed that he stayed in a NY hotel room purchased by Miller.

During the October 22 CNN debate between the two governor candidates, DeSantis said of Gillum, "Andrew is a failed mayor".

Adam Corey volunteered as campaign treasurer for Gillum's run for mayor.

"We don't have a job gap in this country, we have a skills gap", Gillum said. He also blamed Republicans for trying to paint him as unethical and "reinforce, frankly, stereotypes about black men".

"All this stuff that they say, I've got to let them know, anti-police? No. At the time we believed that they were reserved by friends of Adam's, Mike Miller", he said. I don't know how you quantify that but it's straightforward. The event followed a luncheon in Palm Beach County, and between the two events the campaign raised around $2.5 million, according to Democratic booster Chris Korge, who helped coordinate the two events.

'Some people were paying more for premiums than for rent, so people couldn't afford it.

"I should have asked more questions to make sure everything that has transpired was aboveboard", he said.

The Republican former congressman also recalled Gillum's remarks from a few nights earlier.

The story is nearly certain to live on. Under Florida's ethics rules, any gift more than $100 must be reported, which these weren't. And it hollered through this room...he's got neo-Nazis helping him out in the state. "You will have to ask him for his credit card records to determine whether he paid for them himself".
