The cause of Mac Miller's death back in September has been announced by the Los Angeles County coroner.

The rapper died from "mixed drug toxicity" and specifically fentanyl and cocaine, TMZ reports.

A coroner has ruled rapper Mac Miller's death an accidental overdose due to a combination of drugs and alcohol.

The report also found that he had alcohol in his system.

The report also detailed that he was found by his assistant in a "praying position" kneeling forward with his face resting on his knees. Mac was described as being "blue", even during the call for help.

Miller's assistant agreed, saying Miller was feeling positive about his projects, but said he had a tendency to slip into drug binges, and had such an episode three days before the one that left him dead. A "Celebration of Life" concert with performances from Chance the Rapper, John Mayer, SZA, Travis Scott, Miguel and Anderson.Paak was held last month in Los Angeles and live-streamed on Miller's official Facebook page.

It has been confirmed that the popular artist died from a drug overdose.

The department determined that McCormick's death was accidental - making him the latest in a string of overdose deaths involving the opioid fentanyl.

Fentanyl was originally developed as a painkiller and anesthetic, but it's 50 to 100 times more potent than heroin.
