Pakistan had last week announced that it would develop the corridor on their respective side of the border to help Indian pilgrims visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur.

While talking to the media persons in Islamabad before leaving for Kartarpur, Dr Faisal said that this was the initiative of Prime Minister Imran Khan which was widely appreciated including the people in India. "We want to move forward", the prime minister said at the groundbreaking ceremony of Kartarpur corridor at Narowal district of Punjab. This should not have been done. "It'd madness to think of war between two nuclear states because there is no victor in a nuclear conflict", he said, adding that the only option left is to have peace and friendship.

She brushed off any possibility of improvement in relations between India and and Pakistan, despite the opening of the Kartarpur crossing. Today, a key in the form of Imran Khan has come to open the door between the two Punjabs, he lauded. "Just imagine the potential we have if our relationships get strong", said the premier. "If man can walk on the moon, what problems are there that we cannot resolve?"

Delivering a lecture on hybrid warfare at the Institute of Defence and Studies and Analyse, Gen. Rawat said that while India claimed the whole of Jammu and Kashmir, it should first control the situation on its side of Kashmir without losing sight of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The decision to open the Kartarpur border was made after Imran Khan assumed office in August; Navjot Singh Sidhu was invited for the swearing-in ceremony of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief.

He said he didn't understand the reaction in India about Sidhu's visit to Pakistan.

During his spech, Khan echoed Sidhu when he said that both countries needed to come together and resolve their issues. "There has to be someone to put out this fire" Sidhu said.

Top civil and military leaders - including General Qamar Javed Bajwa - foreign diplomats and a large number of Sikh pilgrims turned up at the groundbreaking ceremony where popular Indian cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu and Union Ministers Hardeep Puri and Harsimrat Kaur Badal were also in attendance.

India had proposed the corridor to Pakistan around 20 years back.

He assured the Sikh community that facilities at Kartarpur Sahib will be even better for 550th birth celebrations for Guru Nanak Dev next year. The ties between the two countries had strained after the terror attacks by Pakistan-based groups in 2016. He also said that if he is invited for the Pakistan Super League, he will definitely attend.

"I already visited Pakistan, and it was me only who started the comprehensive bilateral dialogue", Swaraj said, according to NDTV.

At Wednesday's event, it was Prime Minister Imran Khan's turn to eulogise his friend Sidhu who has fiercely supported calls for encouraging talks between the two countries.
