This is good news for fans who've been enjoying the show on Netflix, and experienced a massive freakout when they saw an onscreen message proclaiming the show would only be available to stream until January 1, 2019.

The New York Times reported Tuesday that Netflix will pay around $100 million to parent company WarnerMedia to keep the show another year - $30 million a year more than what it was paying before. Netflix has now removed that expiration notice from its website.

Friends will be there for you on Netflix for the foreseeable future. Meanwhile, fans of the show went into full freak-out mode over the weekend when someone spotted a note on the show's Netflix page that said it would be leaving the service on January 1st. With HBO, Warner Bros., and TBS, WarnerMedia's content is a bit more diffuse. TV, who produced the massively successful sitcom, did respond to THR, while a Netflix spokesperson declined to comment.

Friends originally arrived on Netflix in January 2015, and some people noted that the sitcom is the only reason they are subscribed to the streaming service. But it seemed like it was worth it.

Don't expect Friends to be gone from a streaming service for long. In 2014, when Netflix first bought those rights, it paid $500,000 an episode.

Netflix tweeted a screenshot from the show with the message: "The Holiday Armadillo has granted your wish: "Friends" will still be there for you in the United States throughout 2019". It's possible that "glitch" was a premature sign of things to come.

Netflix might've disappointed us by canceling Daredevil, but it delivered some good news on the Friends front on Monday. They may not be there for you forever.
