Kawhi Leonard finds ‘UNCLE DENNIS’ chant from Spurs crowd amusing

And while Leonard did scored 21 points on 8-for-13 shooting, the Raptors' three-game winning streak came to an end in front of a raucous, hostile crowd.

That's a pretty classy move by both guys and it shows just how much they respect each other.

Kawhi Leonard has seen it many times in San Antonio, but the Toronto star never experienced it from the opposing bench until Thursday night. No, not at all.

And his old coach, I'm guessing, will always have a special place in his heart for Leonard for what they accomplished together. It doesn't matter who we're playing.

"That's why I probably don't feel it as much now, probably Toronto for sure".

"You've got to thrive in moments like that", DeRozan said.

"We keep saying that all of these games are preparing us for later on down the road, so I hope it's wild and noisy and a close game and all those things that can help us grow as a team".

Popovich and Leonard hugged and had a long discussion after the Spurs' win over the Raptors on Thursday.

While others went as far as straight-up hoping for DeMar to go full savage mode and have a monster night against Toronto despite their Raptors fandom.

In eight seasons with San Antonio - the bulk of his National Basketball Association career prior to this year - Green established himself as a starter and key contributor for some contending Spurs teams, and his exit wasn't almost as painful. Leonard and Danny Green were then traded from the Spurs to the Raptors for a package centered around DeMar DeRozan in mid-July.

After leading by as many as 26 points in the first half, San Antonio opened the second half on a 12-0 run to take a 79-51 lead. "It was just a fun game".

Maybe we should have seen this coming.

Leonard's former teammate Patty Mills also brushed off any hint of animosity.

"I wanted to break every single record that was there, and be the first to do every single thing". February 22 - the day DeRozan returns to Toronto, undoubtedly to a warm welcome - is the day circled on his calendar. "I put a lot of blood, sweat and tears wearing that jersey, believing in something".
