  • Bohemian Rhapsody was so-so movie

The film won over early favorite A Star Is Born, starring Lady Gaga, superhero smash hit Black Panther, Spike Lee's BlacKkKlansman and If Beale Street Could Talk.

Or will everyone be talking Monday about some tipsy political rant or other wacko unscripted moment?

It was a night of celebration for the cast and crew of Bohemian Rhapsody when the movie took out the Best Film (Drama) award at the 2019 Golden Globes. Bohemian Rhapsody, where Malek starred as Freddie Mercury of the British rock band Queen, also won the best picture award for drama.

The red carpet at the 76th Golden Globe Awards, as expected, was a star-studded event. Green Book also won best screenplay for a motion picture. "He goes and visits her in London all the time". She said her co-writers "lifted me up, they supported me".

This year, the Globes come at the start of voting for Oscar nominations, and while they are not always a clear predictor of Academy Award success, they are a bellwether of momentum.

Lady Gaga is known for her dramatic fashion choices.

It was a good night for Oh, who as well as co-hosting her first Golden Globe ceremony was named best television drama actress for BBC America thriller "Killing Eve".

British actress Olivia Coleman was a victor for bawdy historical romp "The Favourite". "This story, when I heard it, gave me hope, and I wanted to share that hope with you".

For the second year in a row, Rachel Brosnahan won best actress in a comedy for "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel", the Amazon series about a 1950s housewife in New York City who finds she has a gift for stand-up comedy.

But adding spice to the mix on Sunday are programmes that aired too late for Emmys contention.

Christian Bale picked up the award for best actor in a comedy or musical for his portrayal of former US Vice President Dick Cheney in Vice.
