Stocks on the Run: Southern Co (NYSE:SO), Suncor Energy Inc. (USA)(NYSE:SU)

Southern Company recently declared a key addition to its executive leadership team, effective December 1. Sterling A. Spainhour, Jr., has been named senior vice president and general counsel of Southern Company Services. Spainhour joins Southern Company from Jones Day, where he has served as partner at the international law firm’s Atlanta office since 2004. There, he worked on several Southern Company projects, counting the company’s acquisition of Southern Company Gas, the acquisition of a 50 percent equity interest in the Southern Natural Gas (SNG) pipeline system, and the acquisition of PowerSecure International.

Spainhour will lead the legal organization of Southern Company Services – the shared services company that supports Southern Company’s operating company auxiliaries. He will be responsible for the day-to-day legal support of the administrative and operational clients at SCS and will work closely with the other general counsels across the system to assist support the operating companies.

Suncor Energy Inc. (USA)(NYSE:SU), dropped -0.72% and closed at $30.51 in the last trading session. The last trading range of the stock ranges between $29.99 and $30.55. The company’s Market capitalization is $53.25 Billion with the total Outstanding Shares of 1.66 Billion. Suncor recently declared the appointment of Michael Creel to the company’s board of directors. Mr. Creel’s appointment is effective January 1, 2017.

Mr. Creel served in positions with increasing responsibility within the company since 1999.

Before that, he was group vice chairman at Epco Inc., and executive vice president and chief operating officer at DEP Holdings LLC, a company engaged in natural gas liquids transportation, fractionation, marketing and storage, and petrochemical product transportation, gathering and marketing. He was also president and chief executive officer at EPE Holdings LLC.
